guided by occupational therapists, sometimes with other professionals, to guide
children or adults in the development of social skills

interesting reporting of news...sharing feelings and experiences...taking
the perspective of others
|
 |
Practice play skills -- partnered,
teamed, or whole-group lively
games, physical activities, and recreational / leisure pursuits
+ work together toward
goals...modulate activity level...recognize personal space, sequence of
turns, and rules...take appropriate emotional risks |
 |
Host and share food -- snacking or
sharing meals appreciatively and politely
+ practice host and guest skills...continue the conversation while handling
sensory distractions such as taste, touch and smell...notice others'
needs...eat neatly while keeping face/hands/table free of crumbs and spills
|
 |
Share responsibility in group
goal-oriented projects.
+
cooperate, negotiate, and bond...take turns,
negotiate...compromise...initiate ideas for fun...make decisions...respect
opinions of others
